Research
In addition to the range of commercial services Absolute Archaeology offers for development reasons, we also undertake a number of research driven projects, designed to increase knowledge and awareness of the unique historic environment that we have in the United Kingdom and the Channel Islands.
Butleigh
Absolute Archaeology are now in the third season of fieldwork at Butleigh Roman Villa in Somerset. This project has revealed the presence of a late Roman villa complex, but perhaps more importantly, the archaeological evidence is pointing towards post-Roman (Early Medieval or Anglo-Saxon) exploitation of the villa site. It extends certainly into the 5th century AD and may even go beyond this.
